A ton of below-level items that I'll never buy really aren't a loss.
I only came across this game in 2022, but I'm about 20 hours in and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I played D3 to death for years, and was looking for something else. You will get surrounded by enemies, but I find it much easier to keep track of what's going on in Chaosbane. This game isn't groundbreaking by any means, the voice acting is no better or worse than Diablo, the story is generic, but the gameplay is very satisfying, and I find the action more coherent than Diablo. Your specials need "energy", and some attacks use energy, some gain energy, so you need to balance this.
It doesn't have the name cache that Diablo does, but I like that it's not as gear-centered as most aRPGs - meaning, you get a good amount of gear, but you don't end up spending endless time in your character screen, poring over stats to find miniscule advantages.
